Scholarship Opportunities at Eligible Colleges Across India
YIMES is an independent scholarship platform for students pursuing medical, engineering, technology and other eligible professional courses in India.
Students can choose an eligible private, government or semi-government college anywhere in India. A college does not need to be a partner of YIMES for its students to apply for the scholarship.
Students must complete the admission process of their chosen college independently. Their eligibility for a YIMES scholarship will be checked separately according to the official scholarship rules.
How College Eligibility Is Verified
Before approving a scholarship, YIMES may verify the following details:
- The official name and location of the college.
- The university or recognised authority awarding the degree.
- The student's course and academic session.
- The applicable approval, recognition or affiliation for the institution and course.
- The student's admission letter and official academic-fee documents.
The applicable requirements depend on the type of institution, course and qualification.
Important Regulatory and Accreditation Bodies
Different courses may be regulated, recognised or accredited by different authorities. The relevant authority must be checked for the specific course and academic session.
1. Higher Education and Technical Education
- University Grants Commission (UGC)
- All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE), where applicable
- National Board of Accreditation (NBA)
- National Assessment and Accreditation Council (NAAC)
2. Medical and Healthcare Education
- National Medical Commission (NMC)
- Dental Council of India (DCI)
- National Commission for Indian System of Medicine (NCISM)
- National Commission for Homoeopathy (NCH)
- Indian Nursing Council (INC) and relevant State Nursing Councils
- Pharmacy Council of India (PCI)
- Relevant state authorities for paramedical and allied health courses, where applicable
3. Other Professional and Technical Courses
- Council of Architecture (CoA), for architecture
- National Council for Teacher Education (NCTE), for applicable teacher education programmes
- Bar Council of India (BCI), for applicable law programmes
- National Council for Vocational Education and Training (NCVET), for applicable vocational qualifications
- Relevant state technical education boards and affiliating universities
This list includes major authorities and is not exhaustive. Not every authority applies to every college or course. NBA and NAAC provide accreditation, while NIRF provides rankings; neither should be treated as a substitute for mandatory approval or recognition.
Scholarship Verification Process
Students may apply for the YIMES Scholarship Examination while preparing for their entrance examinations. After securing admission to an eligible course, they must submit their admission and academic-fee documents for verification.
The scholarship amount will be calculated according to the student's YIMES score, verified eligible academic fee and the official scholarship rules. The maximum academic fee considered for scholarship calculation is ₹12 lakh.
No College Partnership Required
YIMES does not require students to select a college from a partner-college list. Students may choose any eligible institution that meets the applicable recognition and course requirements, subject to YIMES verification.
YIMES does not provide or guarantee college admission. Students must apply directly to their chosen institution through its own admission process.
