Counselling participation depends on the active YIMES result, eligibility, merit or selection rules and seat availability for the current session. Use your candidate account and current counselling notice to confirm whether you are eligible.
When counselling is active, select participating institutes or universities and available branches in your order of preference. The reference YIMES process advises candidates to select a broad set of choices where available, but the live counselling panel and current notice are the final authority.
The reference YIMES counselling process advises selecting at least 25 colleges or universities where sufficient options are available, with at least one branch. Follow the live counselling instructions because the number of available choices can vary by candidate and session.
The reference 2026 process mentions a counselling fee, but the amount, adjustment and refund conditions must be confirmed from the current payment screen and active YIMES policy before you pay. Do not rely on an archived amount as the final payable fee.
Keep the documents requested in the current counselling notice ready. The reference process includes academic marksheets, school leaving or transfer documents, migration certificate where applicable, recent photographs and identity documents.
When a counselling letter is released for your account, use the official YIMES candidate portal and the Download Counselling Letter page. Availability can depend on your counselling stage and published schedule.
Later counselling rounds may be announced depending on seat availability and current YIMES rules. Check Important Dates, announcements and your dashboard rather than assuming another round will automatically be available.
If re-counselling is offered for the current session, follow the published re-counselling process from your candidate account. A revised allotment or letter may replace the earlier one, so always use the latest official document.
Every reference FAQ category remains available as its own page.
Available institutes, branches, fees, refund conditions, counselling rounds and allotment rules can change by session. Treat the active candidate portal and current YIMES notice as final.
Keep your registered mobile number or application reference ready when contacting support.
